This is the story of the evolution of the the jet boat thanks to the passion and drive of New Zealander Bill Hamilton who, after building a successful engineering business set, about finding a way to boat upstream in shallow waters, so typically found in his country's river systems.
But there is more to this man, who was knighted and inducted into the business and sporting Halls of Fame, a not so well known fact is that Bill Hamilton was the first man in Australasia to break the 100mph barrier on land, way back in 1925. He also won the Brookland Easter Races in 1930, beating the then world land speed record holder Sir Malcolm Campbell in a self prepared Bently. It's just the tip of an iceberg that optimises the Kiwi "No 8 fencing wire mentality" - the ability to build something from nothing.
