I have waited 2.5 years for this night to arrive - the night I would sleep in my self-milled/self-built cabin perched out over a cliff, in the middle of nowhere. (well, on our remote 20 acre off-grid property). I now have to drive out the winter route, which is 2 hours each way. So getting out there is a dedicated and special event.
This time Luna, our newest rescue, gets to come with me. She's been with us for a little over 2 weeks now, and is doing amazingly well. She was set to get spayed, but they almost didn't go ahead with it as they said she went into heat - she must have gone into heat that day because no one was interested in her prior to then. Lenny, for reference, isn't neutered (he is scheduled to have surgery soon), but the second I brought her in the door after her surgery, Lenny (and everyone else for that matter) was all over her! For a solid week she was in heat, but recovering from surgery, but Lenny has been IN LOVE! It's been really nice to finally see Lenny really thrive, and feel alive again. He is chronically lethargic, maybe in pain, doesn't wanna eat or socialize with us...he's the only rescue that hasn't thrived in our house (but he has a serious plethora of health issues that are sure to contribute to the problem). Anyway...the hormones are fading as I write this, and he (Lenny) is slowly reverting to his old self again, but hopefully Luna will keep his spirits alive a bit longer here. She has brought some life and spunk into the rest of the old farts in the house, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to add a younger female to the pack. Ya know, sometimes it just takes a younger gal in the mix of a bunch of old men to liven things up a bit, right!?!?!? 🀭😝

My cabin is getting close to completion. I can't believe I spent a night in it you guys! It was honestly a bit of a magical feeling; like a bit of a Christmas gift! Santa came!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the wood stove hooked up, but luckily I had a back up plan, PLUS, it wasn't that cold (by our standards). So we managed just fine with a propane heater. I also sealed the cabin in while I was there - so all the windows are foamed in and sealed in. Once I get the stove hooked up, I'm all set to stay a night or two out there and really get work done!

I showed Luna a bit more of the property - took her to the 'meadow', which is the halfway point of the property (which I've talked about lots before), but that is truly the most amazing spot on that property because you get a 180 degree view of the lake, AND, there's more room to roam around than the cliff.

I've been thinking about the next steps on this build, and I think I have a plan!

Thanks for watching, and see you in the next video.

Merry Christmas my friends πŸŽ„
