Flying the flag for the Standard classes developed under British Railways, 78019 and 80078 would rub shoulders on the Spa Valley Railway, to deliver their 'BR Standard Steam Weekend' held over the weekend of February 17th-18th.

The pairs' visit to the south-east stems from the 'Winter Steam Gala', held the previous weekend, with the pair remaining on the line for a further weekend. This would allow the Spa Valley to feature them in a further themed event, celebrating their nature as members of BR's Standard classes.

78019 would appear at the event from its usual home of the Great Central Railway. 80078's visit is courtesy of the current owner, Stewart Robinson. Complimenting the pair, BR(S) 'Battle of Britain' Class - 34072 "257 Squadron" would be on display outside the engine shed at 75F Tunbridge Wells West.
