He was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1803. He was the second of five sons of his parents and they had been in New England since the early colonial period. Waldo attended his formal school in the Boston Latin School then went to Harvard College. Waldo didn’t take too much time to make an impact there; where in his junior year at Harvard, he was selected as a freshman messenger for the president. He was responsible for fetching delinquent students and exchanging information with the faculty. Waldo began keeping a list of books he had read and began a journal in a series of notebooks called ‘Wide World’. By senior year, He served as a class poet and decided to go by his middle name, Waldo. After Harvard, Waldo started to teach at his own school then at Cambridge, Massachusetts, until 1825; eventually, he was accepted into the Harvard Divinity School.
Ralph Waldo Emerson’s ideology was distributed through his essays across the United States of America. In 1836, through his essay ‘Nature’ he expressed the philosophy of transcendentalism and led the transcendentalist movement.
