When listening for the sounds made by leaks in plumbing lines, the difference between how sound travels down a metal pipe, versus sound made from a plastic pipe is truly worlds apart. The equipment manufactured by LeakTronics is designed to find leaks in types of plumbing, fast and accurately.

Metal pipes have the ability to transfer sound. When normal street pressure is pushing through a metal pipe, the area where the water is escaping makes a sound that can be heard 6, even 10 feet away from the actual leak itself. Metal carries those sounds, and with LeakTronics DeckPlate and Soil probe, listening underground for those sounds is easy.

Plastic pipes, however, do not transmit those sounds and vibrations. To make an easily audible sound from the leak, we use a combination of air and water, and with LeakTronics pressure rig, we inject bursts of air and water into the pipe to create a distinct boiling sound. This sound can be heard clearly using the DeckPlate or the Soil Probe from LeakTronics - both pieces of equipment are included in the Plumbers Leak Detection Kit and the Pro Complete Swimming Pool Leak Detection Kit - available at https://leaktronics.com.
