Ghosts of Tabor is very much in early access, don’t get me wrong. The developers are up front about this. Still, when it works, the game does a perfect job of turning into a rat, and I mean that as a tremendous compliment. The loop of: scurry from your den, acquire garbage, and hope you can make it back alive is an outstanding for emergent storytelling. There is a questing system, and it has rewarding unlocks of even bigger guns. The multiplayer functionality (mostly) works, which is certainly not a given in most early access virtual reality titles. While I’ve never played Escape from Tarkov, I assume the fact that this game is called “VR Escape from Tarkov” is a compliment.
