Last year we built a self watering/wicking galvanized metal garden bed using a metal trough from our local Ag store. We grew three tomato plants in that bed and that thing EXPLODED with fruit all year long. This year we decided to add four more of these self watering beds to the garden and we've tweaked the design to make it even better and more efficient. You only need five things to get started with this project:
1. A container of some sort
2. 6" perforated irrigation pipe
3. Piece of PVC pipe
4. Piece of fabric cloth
5. Gardening soil
