Which option is better for CCTV? Cloud storage or local storage? Subscription or no subscription? Both options have their pros and cons.
Cloud storage has gained much popularity in recent years thanks to the boom of consumer-grade security cameras such as Ring. With cloud storage, the footage captured by your security cameras is automatically uploaded to a remote server that you can access from anywhere with any device. Local storage is the method that involves storing footage captured by your security cameras on a physical device, such as a hard drive or a memory card. The hard drive is kept inside of the network video recorder, or NVR for short.
Cloud storage provides a very user-friendly setup process and easy remote access but can be more expensive. Local storage can be more cost-effective and provides greater privacy but will be more susceptible to external damage.
