This is a motormouth couple car comparison of the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Nissan Rogue. Both of these are built off a common platform but the details are different. The Rogue and Outlander share a platform that was developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Despite being mechanically similar, the way the Outlander rides and handles has been determined by Mitsubishi engineers not Nissan’s. So you may notice some similarities between the two, but they are unique in their own way. These SUVs are also built in two different factories. The Rogue is built in the US in Tennessee and the Outlander in Japan. They both have a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with a CVT, 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The Mitsubishi is a 7-passenger, it is 6 cm longer and 5 mm wider than the 5-passenger Rogue. The Outlander also has a slightly wider track, but the wheelbase is exactly the same. Both come with similar standard features like LED headlights and taillamps, heated outside mirrors, heated front seats, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an 8” touchscreen and blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, but they do differ on some base model features, The Outlander comes with 18” wheels and the Rogue 17”. The Rogue offers a heated steering wheel as standard, the Outlander one trim up from the base model. All trims, but the base model on the Outlander get a heated steering wheel, a hands-free power lift-gate with adjustable height, a wireless charger and panoramic sunroof. A 9” touchscreen with Android Auto and wireless Apple Carplay plus 20” wheels are standard on the LE, SEL and GT trims. A 12.3” digital driver display, heated rear seats, quilted leather seats and quilted door inserts are standard on the SEL and GT trims. On the Rogue, one up from the base model gets a panoramic sunroof and 18” wheels, but you have to move up to the top Platinum trim to get the motion activated power lift-gate, a 9” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay, a 12.3” digital dashboard, quilted Nappa leather seats, heated rear seats and 19” wheels.
