I've decided I'm done straightening my twists with a charred stick.

In this episode, I make a simple wood mallet out of a chunk of hickory. And then I make another one... Probably not a bad idea considering what we put mallets through when blacksmithing.

Both mallets are entirely made from hickory. The handles are attached to the mallet via a hidden tenon and mortise joint. The first mallet's handle ends up splitting as I am new to hidden tenon and mortise joints. I do a much better job assembling the second hammer.
Both mallets have a boiled linseed oil finish. I pre-charred the striking surfaces of the second mallet.
