The GMC Sierra 1500 has been redesigned for 2019, making the upscale pickup truck even more eye-catching. Along with the bigger design, the Sierra now offers 6 different engine options and a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The largest engine—a 6.2-liter V8—makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. While the truck can’t quite match the Ford F-150 or Ram 1500 in towing or payload, it’s more than likely enough for most shoppers.

The Sierra’s Denali trim is loaded with creature comforts, but the busy interior doesn’t quite look up to par for a vehicle this expensive. Still, the seats are big and comfortable, the rear offers plenty of passenger room, and the bed (made with roll-formed high strength steel) is 50% stronger than the one in the outgoing truck.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, but GMC’s Connected Services suite with OnStar and a 4G WiFi hotspot are offered with only a one-month trial period. Cameras are bountiful, although they’d have to be to help anyone feel comfortable parking a truck this big.

The NHTSA and IIHS have yet to crash-test the new Sierra 1500, but GMC has included a wide range of available safety features. For more information on the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, read Chris Wardlaw’s full review on CarGurus: https://cargur.us/swygP
