Bedlam with a dash of sweetness – such is the signature amalgam of indie hotshots, Sobs. The trio of Celine Autumn, Jared Lim and Raphael Ong imprinted its mark on the scene with a formidable debut in 2017. They’ve since risen through the ranks with several high-profile gigs in the homeland, successful regional tours, and a remarkable discography of dream-pop and indie-rock that’ve won global praise.

For episode four of Snakeweed Sessions, Sobs level up into a beefed-up ensemble as they perform an unreleased single, “Burn Book”. It’s a bittersweet bop that manages to hit soft spots with its close-to-home lyricism of fleeting social bonds. Celine’s saccharine vocals frolic above the band’s deluge of orchestrated noise-pop, meshed together with crusty chords and twangy riffs that bust through the distorted din. There is a captivating tenderness within its gritty, weathered textures; a forlorn core wedged between the walls of fuzz. It’s palpable, even within the pandemonium.
