For the last three years, centi-millionaire @BryanJohnson has spent millions in hopes of reversing his age. The 46-year-old, who aims to return to 18 again, reveals that while the discovery would be a success for science, he is also driven by something close to home.

“I’m currently working on trying to keep my dad alive,” Johnson told Fortune in an exclusive interview. “He’s now 71. He’s past due.”

According to a life expectancy calculator, Johnson says his father, Richard, was only expected to live until 68. The Blueprint CEO is now attempting various procedures, including a $25,000 gene-therapy injection, which one doctor said, “will kill someone.”

In April 2023, Johnson arranged “the world’s first multi-generational plasma exchange” with his father and then-17-year-old son. In July 2023, Fortune reported that Johnson admitted to seeing “no benefits.” However, he says his father experienced a “significant boost to his wellness” after the plasma exchange.

Johnson has since then received criticism online. However, Johnson says he “loves the haters” and calls the criticism he received “funny.” In December 2023, Tesla CEO Elon Musk agreed with a user’s post on X that Johnson looked better before he started.

“Being human is very hard. [Critics] are trying to understand reality, they’re trying to deal with themselves, we all are. It’s an illusion that any human just has it all figured out—it is very, very hard to be human,” he said.
