The Toyota Aygo is the cheapest car for 17 year olds to insure, so in this review, Howard Ritchie considers it's potential as the ideal first car or the best car for Mum. Howard takes the supermini for a test drive around town to find out how good it is.

Toyota Stats:
Engine: 1.0 L 3-cylinder
Power: 72hp (it feels fast enough)
0-60: Well, it will do 60!
Gearbox: Auto or Manual
Fun Roof: Oh very.

To find out which super mini is best is no easy task. Essentially in this case – it is the one with the smallest insurance premium AND the one which is likely to break down the least. Toyota have again won another award for reliability but this is a very competitive space and so finding the best one is no easy task.

The used Aygo quoted in this video did have 60,000 miles, quite high for a tiny engine. It’s also worth remembering if you do low miles, leasing a small car might be less of a headache. Leasing is the same as a PCP that you get from a dealer however at the end of the term you simply hand the car back, with a PCP there is always a future payment to be made if you want to keep the car.

Both PCP and Leasing are smart options for peace of mind, especially as the payments when leasing include VED and in many cases you won’t have to service the car or worry about warranty issues or breakdown.
