“Tubular Bells: Part One” marks the next big step in Virgin Orbit’s commercial service. For this mission to space, LauncherOne will carry to space payloads for three customers from three different countries: the U.S. Department of Defense Space Test Program, Polish satellite firm SatRevolution, and the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
We’re so proud to share this video recapping our #TubularBells mission, during which we successfully deployed 7 more customer spacecraft into their target orbits. Marking Virgin Orbit’s second flawless trip to orbit this year so far, this mission took off from the Mojave Air and Space Port in California on June 30th, 2021, and carried into space a set of small satellites for the U.S. Department of Defense Space Test Program, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, and SatRevolution.

Unlike traditional ground-launched rockets, Virgin Orbit’s unique LauncherOne system uses a 747 jet called Cosmic Girl as its flying launch pad and mobile mission control, allowing flexible and responsive launch from almost anywhere on the planet!
