The 2024 Kia EV9 is the first mainstream all electric three-row SUV that looks and feels like a mainstream SUV more than it does an EV. But is the Kia EV9 good enough to convince buyers? The EV9 certainly looks the part, taking the handsome Kia Telluride and sharpening all of its edges for a unique but not weird EV look. It instantly stands out, and the interior is a thoughtful and well laid out space with plenty of room for our tall family and decent cargo space. But two things probably hold people like us back from being immediately interested in the Kia EV9. The first is the range. The Kia EV9 only goes up to 270 miles as you see it here... but only around 230 miles in lower trims. That's becoming barely acceptable these days, although the fact that the Kia EV9 does it while lugging around this much size and space is impressive. The second problem is the price. As you see it here, this 2024 Kia EV9 costs over $75k, which is a lot, especially considering the Lucid Gravity, which was only a stone's throw away from where I'm standing in this video, goes over 400 miles and starts in the $80k range. But that's not to say that you should dismiss the Kia EV9 outright. As a big, comfortable second family car for around town that doesn't extract a financial fuel penalty, it's certainly an interesting proposition, and of course it's probably quick, too.
