Despite being honoured as the national animal of India, tigers have been hunted and driven to the brink of extinction. However, the tiger population in India has been growing at a slow yet steady rate in recent years thanks to efforts like Project Tiger. In fact, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the pivotal initiative. As part of Hyundai's Great India Drive 2023, we drove down from Delhi to Alwar to visit the Sariska Tiger Reserve. Our companion for the journey was the Exter, an SUV that has been key in bringing big change to the segment it sits in. Together with the Exter, we got a closer look at the importance of tigers in Sariska and how the lives of the locals have transformed.
