Karnataka Dy CM DK Shivakumar in conversation with CNN-News18 said 'BJP is just promising things, unemployment & price rise on high'

The electoral battleground is set to witness a fight between the grand old Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka on Friday. Of the 28 parliamentary seats in the state, 14 seats are set to go to polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The voting for these seats began at 7 am.

Unlike the triangular contest in the Assembly elections last year, the general election is going to be a straight fight between the BJP-JD(S) alliance and the Congress.

The grand old party is contesting all the 14 seats, whereas the saffron camp has fielded 11 candidates and its partner JD(S) has fielded three (Hassan, Mandya and Kolar).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the alliance of Congress and JD(S) had won just one seat each in these 14 segments while the BJP had won 11.

Key candidates to watch out for in the first phase of the voting in Karnataka are Tejasvi Surya, Shobha Karandlaje, Soumya Reddy, DK Suresh, Prajwal Revanna, Shreyas Patel and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
