“Web 2.0 is broken,” and the internet needs to be reinvented. Why is data storage the place to start? With the long-anticipated mainnet launch of the Web 3.0 data-storage project Filecoin, founder Juan Benet and his team are taking a step toward that transformation.

Filecoin was a giant ICO that came out of Protocol Labs which was meant to truly transform the way we store information on the internet. We’ve been waiting since 2017 and today, “we’re fairly close” to the first broad set of crypto-native consumer applications, says Benet. September? “We’ll see.”

ConsenSys founder Joe Lubin also joined the conversation on the future of the internet. “We’re 5-6 years from the revolution of distributed storage,” says the Ethereum co-founder. CoinDesk’s Brady Dale hosts the conversation on the most complex thing the blockchain industry has ever brought to market, and what it means for the future.
