1. What was the name? “Father” (6 times in that chapter)
2. Manifest: demonstrate it—by living like a Son of God
C. No one knows the Son but the Father; no one knows the Father but the Son and
the one for whom the Son wills to reveal the Father. (Matt. 11: 27)
1. Only one person can reveal the Father: the Son
2. “Come to Me all you who labor . . . and I will give you rest”
3. “My yoke,” “My burden” = to do the Father’s will
D. Four results of knowing the Father
1. Personal identity
a. You know who you really are
b. Generation X—don’t know who they are
2. A home in heaven
a. It takes a father to make a home
b. Angels will carry you home
3. Total security
a. More valuable than sparrows, yet God knows when each one falls to the
ground (Matt. 10: 29–31)
b. Like a child in his father’s arms
c. Nothing can snatch you away (John 10: 29)
4. Provides motivation for serving
a. Always do those things that please Him (John 8: 29)
b. Security comes out of your motive
