There are two options for deleting a Gmail account. You can either delete it or Remove it from your iPhone. These actions are different and differ significantly in their results.

Let’s get started.

The first way is to delete your Gmail Account Permanently using Google security. Please note that deleting your Gmail account means no more emails can be sent or received to your email address, and it is hard to recover.

Launch the Gmail app on your iPhone to control your Gmail account. Then, tap the profile icon at the top right corner to begin the deletion process and tap on the Manage your Google Account option.

Now, tap on the Data & Privacy section.

Swipe up and find the Delete your Google Account section.

Download your data and delete a Google service available under the Download or delete your data section.

If you want data backup, tap on Download your data and follow the instructions to make a copy of your Gmail data.

Don’t select Delete a Google service because it is a Google service, like a YouTube channel, Google Photos, and everything else.

Now, swipe up and tap on Delete your Google Account.

Then, to continue the account deletion process, enter your Google password and hit the next button.

Please note that deleting your Google account will also delete your Gmail, YouTube Play Store, and other Google services.

Read all the information and swipe up to the bottom. Select the checkbox to confirm your decision and tap the delete account option.

My Google account and all its data have been deleted here.

So, if you accidentally deleted your account, you have a short amount of time to recover it.

That’s it.

Now, let’s look at two ways to remove a Gmail account only from your iPhone and Gmail app.

The second way is using iPhone settings.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, swipe up until you see the mail section and tap on it.

After that, tap on the Accounts section.

Now, tap on the Gmail section. You can see the Delete Account option available here.

Tap on it. Your iPhone shows a message saying that deleting this account will remove its calendars and contacts from your iPhone.

Select the Delete from my iPhone option. That’s it.

If you change your decision later, you can add the email account to your iPhone.

Now, let’s see the third way is using the Gmail app.

Doing this will remove your Gmail account from your iPhone. You can’t access it from your iPhone anymore, but you can use it from another device or a web browser.

Launch the Gmail app on your iPhone. Tap on the profile icon at the top right corner. Then, tap on manage accounts on this device.

Here, tap on Remove from this device.

A pop-up may appear on your iPhone screen that says, this account and any unsaved data will be removed from Gmail and other Google Apps on this device.

Tap on remove to confirm. That’s it.

As you can see, my Gmail has been successfully removed from my device. However, it is not available in the profile section.

To add a Gmail account to my iPhone, Tap on Add another account and select Google under the setup email section. Then, tap on the continue option.

Enter your email id and tap on the next button. Then, enter your password and tap the next button. That’s it.

I am successfully signing back into my Gmail account.
