The creative minds behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe faced an impossible task: take the most iconic characters in the history of the medium and make them suitable for the silver screen. In many cases, they succeeded beyond the fan's expectations. Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and others retained their trademark looks.

Captain America, Vision, Thor, and others maintained the essential elements of their looks, but with some alterations to fit the new medium. However, some characters were never going to make a smooth transition and had to undergo major revisions before they could go from the flat page to three-dimensional life.

From outrageous accessories to barely-there outfits, superhero costumes are often difficult to duplicate in the real world. With some of these outfits, it's hard to imagine how the heroes avoid a "wardrobe malfunction", never mind fight the forces of evil.In other cases, casting choices that favored diversity or appealed to specific market sectors made changes to the character's look a necessity.

Fans met many of these changes with disgust and contempt, as the realities of the soundstage interfered with the fantasies portrayed on the comics page. But not all these changes were met with derision and disdain. Some of these alterations improved how audiences received the characters.

In this video, we're going to look at ten characters from the MCU that needed some major tweaks before they could make the jump from page to screen.
