Although you may be familiar with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine condition that can cause the growth of ovarian cysts, you still might be wondering how this condition is diagnosed.

Monica Moore, Illume’s Nurse Practitioner and PCOS fertility expert, is here with her trusty whiteboard to help answer that question.

The most common indicators of PCOS are irregular menstrual cycles, ovaries that are larger and filled with more follicles than normal, and signs of excess androgens (male hormones). These signs can be clinical, such as hormone levels in your blood, or physical, such as unwanted hair growth.
