Lamu Island, Kenya. Lamu is located just off the shore of Kenya in the Indian Ocean, and was a major center of global trade for hundreds of years. Today, the island is home to a Muslim-majority Swahili community as well as the oldest and best preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa. Its culture, people, and architecture reflect its diverse past and influences.

In this video, we travel to Lamu Island, explore the unique architecture in Old Town Lamu, take a tour in a dhow sailboat, and have a meal at an upscale restaurant in Shela.
