Forget your Rolls-Royces or you BMWs, your hot hatches or your fast uber-wagons. The Ford Ranger Raptor must be the most capable car in the world – simply because nothing, absolutely nothing, can stop its progress.

It is the ultimate version of Ford’s euro-pick-up the Ranger. Ford has taken the Ranger, lifted it, given it a wider track, bigger wheels, flared arches, and aggressive look, massive Fox shock absorbers, specially-designed suspension and a toughened chassis, to make sure that it can go absolutely anywhere.

Sadly, they chose not to give the Ford Ranger Raptor the big V6 engine from the Ford GT, unlike it’s US cousin the F150 Raptor, so the Ranger Raptor makes do with a diesel four-cylinder engine. But, even with a smaller engine, is it still able to go absolutely everywhere?

We put it to the test on the Goodwood off-road arena and rally stage to see what the Ford Ranger Raptor is made of.
