Its undoubtedly true that the unique qualities of the platform, whether technical or cultural, have a great impact on the types of gaming experiences we enjoy.

This talk introduces the growing academic field of Platform Studies and will argue for extending the concept of platform to shape our understanding of the very studios that make the games for our favourite systems.
