The smell of freshly cooked burgers & fried onions, mingles with the aroma of burnt aviation fuel……the taste of ice cold Coca Cola, or perhaps a Budweiser…..

It could only be the legendary Mildenhall Air Fete!

The airshow held for decades at RAF Mildenhall, England was one of the highlights of the UK Airshow calendar.

This video showcases the awesome airshow from 1997. In glorious weather, a multitude of foreign nations took part in the static & air displays. The main theme of the Air Fete was the 50th anniversary of the formation of the United States Air Force.

One of the highlights of the airshow was the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber (93-1086  "Spirit of Kitty Hawk" ) which made the type's first appearance at a public air show in the UK, when it performed a flypast while escorted by two F-15Cs from the 48th FW at RAF Lakenheath.

Among air displays from F-16s, Jaguar, Tornado, Harrier, Sea Harrier and a F-117A Nighthawk, there was also displays from five national display teams including the British Red Arrows, Italian Frecce Tricolori & American Thunderbirds.
