I cover any types of questions or concerns you should be aware of. You will learn about the likes and dislikes I have with using this cabinet hardware jig.

When you choose to use a jig to install cabinet hardware you will want to consider a few things. The first thing is where you want to place the cabinet hardware.

You are a bit limited with knob or handle placement due to the location of the guide holes. This means that the location of the guide holes in the jig I'm using doesn't allow you to drill less than half an inch from the edge of the cabinet door.

This is okay with me because I don't want to have a knob this close to the edge. I think it would look out of place and a bit ugly.

I talk about how to decide where to place the knob to have it the most aesthetically appealing. There are a few basic factors to consider before you drill.

Once you are done planning the placement of your cabinet knob or handle. you will adjust the location(s) of your holes on the jig.

This is done by turning the thumb screws and sliding them to the appropriate location. The video explains exactly how this is done.

When you have the hole placement where you want it make sure all the thumb screws are tight and locked down well. This is to keep them from sliding while you are working.

The greatest part of using a cabinet jig is they will let you drill your holes exactly where you need them each time. This makes it quick and easy to get a consistent placement of your handles.

Once it is set up you just need to hold it to each door and drill through the correct hole.

If you want to take it one step further and make it a little easier on yourself, I recommend using a small clamp to hold it in place.

This will let you be hands free. You also don't need to worry about the jig slipping at all while you are drilling. This allows for a more consistent handle placement.

Once you know the hole placement is good for one door, go through and drill all the doors. You want to get all the doors finished before moving on to the drawer fronts.

All the doors should have the same placement of the handles. This is even if the doors are different sizes. The handles are all going to be near one corner. this goes for upper and lower cabinets.

Drawer fronts are possibly different sizes. If this is the case start with the size that has the most drawer fronts the same. Get these out of the way before changing the hole locations on the Cabinet Handle Jig.

Put the hole placement where the handle or knob is centered on the drawer. You may need to draw a centerline on the drawer face before measuring for the handle.

Next measure the distance between the screw holes on the handles. Dividing this number by 2 will give you the distance each hole should go in each direction from the center line.

To know how far down the face of the drawer the screw holes should fall you want to measure the height of the face and divide by two. This is because most people like the handles to be centered on the drawer face. If this isn't the case just place them at the height you want them.

Once you know what height on the face you want the screw holes you can put the perpendicular slide stop at this location. This cabinet hardware jig makes it easy with the built in ruler.

The nice thing about the jig I use in this video is it has a centerline mark on it. This makes it easy for you to be consistent with your handle or knob placement.

Each different size will need to have the cabinet jig changed. To do this go through the same process of setting up your cabinet hardware jig for that size door or drawer front.

Making sure you take the time to get the screw hole placement correct will keep you from making any mistakes.

I like to test my first knob or handle before moving on to the next. This lets you make sure you are not going to run into any problems with all the doors.
