The Naches Trail is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Rainier in Washington State. This route has had many uses over the years including settlers hauling their horse drawn wagons over the mountain pass.

Settlers migrating west only used this trail for a handful of year but open today for public 4x4 use. And it’s a blast! There are steep climbs, narrow tree squeezes and beautiful scenery. The trail is around 12 miles and can be driven in both directions. There are bypasses for the most difficult obstacles making the trail passable by most 4wd vehicles.

However, don’t underestimate the terrain! We encountered a Toyota Tacoma that rolled over on a difficult descent. I’ve driven many different trucks on this trail over the years. The Yamaha Wolverine RMAX made the journey more playful and fun thanks to the small size and capability.

Please enjoy these trails responsibly. No trash. Tread lightly.
