Come with me this time as I repair this lovely Sansui AU-317 integrated amplifier, one of my favourite budget amps.

I also have a polite rant about how so many beautiful pieces like this end up devalued or ruined by ill-judged, misinformed 'repair' attempts, and why they are best left alone unless the right people can be found to work on them.

This AU-317 exhibited serious distortion and a ridiculous DC offset in one channel. I repaired it, but not before a recapper had fitted a full set of 'Suntan' capacitors before giving it back to the previous owner still broken, and with a nonsense diagnosis, a total waste of time and money.
