2020 update: Sound test video here:    • 2005 Lexus LS430 Sound test for SPL/d...

I have slowly had to replace every speaker in my LS430. 15 years of use & heat has just disintegrated the foam in the mid & low elements.

This video details how to detach the rear door cards (very similar to the front--plenty of YouTube videos on that already), and swapping the 6.5" speaker elements out of the factory brackets.

A few months ago, a dealership quoted me ~$900 to replace the 6.5" elements in the front doors. I purchased the OEM parts online for ~$385 shipped and replaced them myself in under 2 hours. Everything sounded better, but then I noticed my rear speakers were degraded too. Instead of going with the Mark Levinson Lexus OEM parts, I wanted to try some aftermarket ones: the PRV Audio 6MB250-NDY. A pair of those was only $130 shipped.

Tools needed: Plastic interior pry bar, assorted Philips screwdrivers, wire cutter/strippers or soldering/de-soldering equipment.
Time: ~2 hours start to clean-up.
