The leaves are bursting, the flowers blooming, and the days are warm . What about the Occoquan Tarpon? They're running in force! The Occoquan Tarpon, AKA Hickory Shad, is a species that becomes ubiquitous here during the spring time when the migrate up here in the tens of thousands.
This is perhaps one of it not the first species of fish I'd ever fished for and their arrival signals the end of winter lockjaw and the beginning of spring. I've been living far from this area for the past three years, so being able to hit the shad run this year is especially special.
