When Darren Parsons built this ’89 Camaro to go Gymkhana Grid racing, he didn’t have any intention of coddling it. “We’re gonna get it out here and we’re gonna screw it up – because this is a race car, baby!” To handle this sort of abuse, he fortified the car, which he calls “Camarokhana,” with robust, competition-ready parts from the Holley family of brands. At the core of this rowdy machine is a 440ci LS motor making 650 rear wheel horsepower using a Holley Terminator X Max system. Handling all that energy is a T-56 6-speed manual transmission feeding into a GearFX rear end, while Detroit Speed suspension and Baer brakes give Camarokhana the necessary athletic abilities. It’s a potent machine for sure, but it just goes to show what can be done with a little work and some determination. “I built the car in the last three months,” says Darren. “Just in my spare time in the morning and on the weekends, having a family, having a full-time job. I did it all with Holley parts.”
