Brian C. Smith competed on an Arizona High School state runner-up golf team that included 8 future college golfers including 1 Canadian Open Winner. The same team cut 2 future college golfers. In future years the school won 9 state team championships, 1 more team runner-up, and 5 individual championships while producing 1 PGA player, Charlie Beljan. He also caddied for several summers and worked almost every job at the golf course including pro-shop sales, range picker, and course maintenance.
