Intro: Today, we are going to systematically test the Mi Band 8! This is a super popular smartwatch, since it is really beautiful at a very affordable price point. However, the questions remains, are the health and sports measurements it takes actually any good. In this comprehensive review, my aim is to help you decide if the measurements of the Mi Band 8 are good enough for your specific use case! As we dive into this detailed analysis, we'll be comparing the Mi Band 8 with various accurate reference devices to give you an in-depth understanding of its capabilities. Specifically, we'll be focusing on two key aspects of the smartwatch – heart rate tracking and sleep tracking. These are essential features for fitness enthusiasts and those seeking to improve their overall well-being. So, let's not waste any more time and explore what the Mi Band 8 has in store for you!

Now, before we proceed, I must admit that this turned out to be a more challenging video than I initially anticipated. An international version of the Mi Band 8 was not yet available, at least not one I could find, so I had to get the chinese version. The Chinese and International versions are usually very similar in terms of hardware, but the software has subtle differences. In this case it meant I could not get access to high-frequency heart rate measurement data of the Mi Band, since I couldn’t connect the Mi Band 8 to Strava. Luckily, I did find a way to access the heart rate data on the Mi Band 8 at a 5-minute resolution, which is enough to draw some general conclusions. Therefore, this will be an initial review, and a full review will follow in the future.
Now, as regular viewers of the channel will know, I typically do not list the specs of watches, since you can find those on the website of the manufacturer. However, I do want to note one thing, namely the fact that the design of the Mi Band 8 reminds me a lot of the Fitbit Luxe. I am not saying that Xiaomi directly copied this design, but I do think these devices look very similar.
