The 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron brings premium style and technology to the growing electric crossover segment. As a relatively affordable entry point into Audi's EV lineup, the Q4 e-tron offers a balance of range, performance, comfort and high-tech features.

For 2024, Audi has made adaptive cruise control with lane centering standard across all Q4 e-tron models. New steering wheel paddle shifters allow drivers to easily adjust regenerative braking levels on the fly. The Q4 e-tron continues with two body styles, the traditional SUV and the sportier Sportback variant. Both provide a modern and upscale interior with the latest Audi infotainment and driver assistance tech.

The Q4 e-tron is motivated by either a rear-mounted 201 horsepower electric motor in the base 40 model or dual electric motors providing 295 horsepower in the 50 quattro version. While not overly quick, acceleration is smooth and refined. Handling is competent if not engaging, with the low center of gravity inherent in EVs providing a stable ride. Audi's focus is on everyday comfort over sportiness.

Range estimates vary from a maximum of 265 miles in the Q4 40 to 242 miles in the AWD Q4 50 Sportback. Those aren't class-leading figures but should suffice for most commuters. DC fast charging capability allows an 80% charge in as little as 36 minutes. The Q4 e-tron achieves EPA ratings nearing 100 MPGe. Real world range depends on driving style and conditions.

Inside, an airy cabin provides seating for up to five, though rear passengers may find knee room a bit tight. High quality materials abound, complimented by ambient lighting options. Cargo space is compromised slightly by the sloped rear in the Sportback. Front seats are comfortably contoured and 16-way power adjustable.

Audi's intuitive MMI infotainment system is accessed via a 10.3 inch digital gauge cluster and central 11.6 inch touchscreen. The latest connectivity and charging features are standard. Driver assistance tech includes forward collision warning with auto braking, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alerts. New for 2024 is an available head-up display with augmented reality.

The 2024 Q4 e-tron starts at $50,995 for the base Premium trim 40 model, ranging up to $66,395 for the loaded 50 quattro Sportback. Opting for the mid-level Premium Plus trim around $55,000 provides an appealing balance of features and value. Key options include the $3,200 larger battery, $2,100 for AWD in the 40, and $5,000 for the S line exterior package.

Compared to rivals like the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Q4 e-tron splits the difference on performance, range and luxury. Sharp handling and rapid acceleration take a back seat to comfort and refinement. For those seeking a premium electric crossover with Audi cachet, the 2024 Q4 e-tron delivers without breaking the bank.
