The F-150 Lightning is currently not selling very well. This has ultimately led to Ford Motor Company reducing the price by up to $10,000! So let's start at the first quarter of 2023. Ford built 4,291 Lightnings in the First Quarter of 2023 (that’s 17,000 trucks per year). Now let's take a look at what's going on right now. If you go to Ford.com and go to the build in price of the Lightning, it tells you that if you order the vehicle right now, you can have it in 3 months. But not too long ago they were saying they were sold out for 3 years. But reservations dont equal sales. So why do we think the F150 lightning has fallen off in sales? It's definitely not the truck because we think that this truck is absolutely AMAZING. We think it is a mixture of interest rates and the pricing. Mitchells Lightning had an MSRP of 80,094. Really it was $78,299 before D&D. Then the prices went all the way to $86,499. That is more than a $7,500 tax credit! So a total of $15,700 swing for the exact same vehicle.
Because of this, Effective July 17, 2023, Ford is changing the MSRP of these vehicles.
Lariat ER now starts at $77,495. After you factor Max trailer tow Package, pricing is nearly back to where it started! This example of lightning is now $16k cheaper than it was yesterday.
