This is a Motormouth couple car review of 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 compact luxury crossover. The GLC 300 has a 2L turbo-charged 4-cylinder engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which is very smooth. It has 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque and goes 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. I find it to be a great daily driver with a balance of performance and comfort. It’s agile, light and nimble with a quiet cabin. I can understand why people who own one, love it. The exterior is sporty and has a bit of an athletic look to it. If you want to elevate the exterior and make it look more muscular, there are packages available to do that. Our test model in Brilliant Blue has the Night Package for $2,100 CAD/$2,000 USD with AMG body styling, gloss black exterior accents, matte black roof rails, a chrome diamond block grille and AMG 19” wheels. Although the package comes with 19” wheels, our test model has 20” AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels for $750 CAD/USD. Aluminum running boards are also available for $750 CAD/$650 USD. Standard features on the GLC include, heated power folding side mirrors, LED headlights and LED taillights, 19” wheels and blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert. 18” or 19” wheels are standard in the US. You can upgrade to the Intelligent Drive Package for $2,700 CAD/$1,700 USD for active blind spot monitoring and active rear-cross traffic alert, active lane keep assist, active lane change assist, active steering assist and active emergency stop assist. For fuel economy the GLC gets 11.3L/100km, 21 MPG city and 8.5L/100km, 28 MPG highway. The GLC can tow up to 3500 pounds.Mercedes-Benz offers a warranty of 4 years or 80,000 km/50,000 miles. Our test model has a silk beige Artico leather interior with brown ash wood trim and brushed aluminum. The cabin has an elegant feel to it with soft leather and very little hard plastic except in the places you would expect it on the lower doors. There are plenty of different leather colour combinations to choose from including, saddle brown, grey/black and cranberry red/black. The GLC comes standard with a 7” touchscreen with a touchpad controller, a 5.5” instrument cluster display and heated front seats. Our test model has the larger screens, a 12.3” digital instrument cluster found in the Technology Package for $1,900 CAD, a 10.25” touchscreen and panoramic sunroof in the Premium Package for $4,500 CAD, the foot activated tailgate and 64 colour LED ambient lighting found in the Premium Plus package for $2,100 CAD. There are a few more features you may want like a heated steering, it will cost you $250 CAD and heated rear seats for $550 CAD. It would be nice to see these features in at least one of the packages. As well, how about putting the larger screens in one package instead of two different ones?
