Lisa Gade reviews the latest generation HP Spectre x2, a 12.3” convertible Windows tablet that competes directly with the Microsoft Surface Pro. The Spectre x2 is significantly less expensive than a comparably configured Surface Pro and it sports an “ash silver” metal casing with a gold stainless steel kickstand. The tablet has a 3000 x 2000 IPS display that supports touch and the included HP Active Pen (N-Trig technology). A backlit keyboard is also included with the x2.

it’s available starting at $1,149 with a dual core 15 watt Intel Core i5-7360U 7th gen Kaby Lake CPU and Intel Iris Plus 640 graphics. The $1,299 model used in this review has the Intel Core i7-7560U CPU with Iris 640 graphics, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and a 360FB PCIe NVMe SSD. The Spectre has a front 5MP camera with Windows Hello facial recognition.
