We're off to the Weston Park classic car show 2024, on Easter Sunday in March, for this epic Old Classic Car video. It's been a while since I last uploaded a lengthy classic cars walkaround video so please forgive me for the duration of this one, but split into several sittings it should be manageable :-)
The weather leading up to the Weston Park 2024 classic car show had been less than brilliant, with flooded fields and roads all around being the order of the day for weeks leading up to this event. It was a two-day show, held on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday 2024. The forecast for the latter was quite poor, with Sunday looking a lot more favourable so that's the day we opted to pop along to see what would turn up. I was surprised just how many classic cars and other vehicles turned up (perhaps because most were pre-booked already?), and video-ing the extensive queues of cars rolling towards the showground reminded me greatly of the same show in 2023.
Many classic, modern-classic and retro cars turned up, and as always I've tried to include a bit of everything while prioritising the slightly older cars in the main.
We took our MX-5 in the hope that it would cope ok with any boggy conditions that we might encounter in the car display area. We arrived early and already many cars were struggling with grip on the sodden ground, we managed to maintain momentum up the gradual slope to the sports cars section and slithered into position, grateful to have made it with minimal wheelspin and pointing downhill in the direction of Weston Park hall itself in readiness for a smooth departure later in the day. I don't think the V8 Pilot would have fared too well on the same ground (although we wouldn't have needed to travel quite so far up the display field in that one).
Many fascinating exhibiting vehicles turned up, including a rare Simca Aronde coupe, Mercedes van, two Mk1 Lotus Cortinas, two A40 Mk1s, many MGBs and Triumph TRs of various flavours, a pair of Standard 10s, FIAT Gamine, Mazda 929 estate, two Citroen Traction Avants, a selection of pre- and post-war Rovers plus many many more - hence the size of this video!
