The theory is that Jim Halpert, Dunder Mifflin salesman, actually wrote the show The Office. While that may come as a surprise, it actually makes perfect sense. I mean, how do you explain the fact that he’s seemingly the only normal one in the bunch and everyone else is such an absurd, over-the-top character? Also, how does he manage to get away with all those pranks without repercussion? As the theory goes, The Office is just the daydreaming/screenwriting of a slacker paper salesman who’s bad at his job and creates an alternate reality to cope.

In this video, let’s start by analyzing the office dynamic and how Jim fits into it. Then, let’s break down his relationship with a number of the main characters and theorize how they may actually act in real life, not just this Jim simulation. In there, let’s take a quick detour and appreciate some of his best pranks, whether they actually happened or not. Finally, let’s examine all the instances where Jim is clearly daydreaming and not actually living this life we’re watching unfold.
