In this episode I provide the history of Suzuki - specifically the cars they sold in the U.S. and Canada starting in the 1980s, until the North American automotive subsidiary of Suzuki was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2012. Suzuki as a company began over a hundred years ago as a loom maker, but would later branch out into selling motorcycles and cars, with one of their biggest hits being the Jimny, which would later sell in the U.S. and Canada as the Samurai. That car would get embroiled in a rollover scandal, which hurt Suzuki's reputation but only short term, as they would reach record sales of over 102,000 by 2007. But when partial owner GM sold their share in 2008, along with stiff competition, Suzuki sales dropped significantly by 2011, forcing them to exit the North American market.
