"A Different Tree" tells the story of an eight-year-old girl’s journey to build a relationship with her absent father, through a class assigned family tree. The film stars Morgan Ashley, Tracie Thoms and Jason Kelley. It was produced as a student film in USC's prestigious 546 class, and directed by Steven Caple Jr. It premiered at the American Black Film festival in 2013 where it took home the award for best short film.
