Ruqyah is the reading of verses from the Holy Qur’an and supplications narrated by the Prophet, peace be upon him, to a sick or needy person, with the aim of healing and getting rid of spiritual, psychological and physical diseases. Ruqyah includes the words that are read and the supplications that are said, and it is used as a means of treating magic, the evil eye, envy, and mental and physical diseases. Ruqyah is one of the spiritual treatments approved in Islam and is considered one of the methods used by the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, for healing.

Several surahs and verses from the Holy Qur’an are used in ruqyah, the most prominent of which are:

1- Surah Al-Fatihah
2- Ayat Al-Kursi (verse 255) from Surat Al-Baqarah
3- Surat Al-Ikhlas
4- Surah Al-Falaq
5- Surat Al-Nas
