Scenario #1: Losing your Excel document without saving.
So have you ever had a computer crash? Have you ever had a software freeze? Things to stop working in essentially forced you to quit without saving. And that's a real bummer, but lucky for us, there's a feature built right into Excel called AutoRecover that we can essentially use to save ourselves some progress that we may have lost when we had to shut down or close without saving.

Now, the one caveat with this is that it had to have been enabled before you began work on your Excel document, or at least before you lost your progress. If you've just recently installed Excel, then it will already likely been enabled and you can recover unsaved Excel files on windows 10. But if you just want to check to be sure that this method will actually work for you, then here's how you can check to make sure that AutoRecover was enabled:
Go to File ➡️ Options ➡️ Save
There you should see a checkmark next to the AutoRecover box.

If AutoRecover was enabled on your version of Excel, then here's what you can do to recover your unsaved file and get all that progress back:

1. Launch Excel and go to the File tab.
2. Click Open and then select the Recent Workbooks option on the top left.
3. Scroll down and click the Recover Unsaved Workbooks button.
4. Locate the lost file and double-click it to open the document.
5. The file will open in Excel and you can use the Save As option to save it to your desired location.

You can manually check the AutoRecover folder. To display the name of this folder, use the following procedure:

1. In Excel, click on File and then Options.
2. Click on Save in the left-side menu to display how your Excel workbooks are being saved.
3. The AutoRecover file location is where AutoRecovered files are saved. If AutoRecover is enabled, you can go to this folder and search for your lost file. It may have been generically renamed, so be sure to check all the files for the one you want.

Scenario #2: You accidentally deleted the file entirely and you need to get that entire file back.
Here we will use data recovery software to get our Excel file back in our hands and ready to use.

Again, we're trying to avoid overriding those files and completely deleting them forever. And so if we act quickly and minimize the use of our PC in the meantime, that will give us the best chances of not overriding the file and thus the best chances of getting it back.

Now, if you're looking at all the options out there, and there are a lot of them, you're likely feeling a bit overwhelmed. You need to find one that strikes the right balance between power, versatility, ease of use, and simplicity. And in my opinion, there's really only one that fits the bill. Disk Drill is one of the most powerful pieces of file recovery and file management software in the industry on top of being feature-packed, it also supports a wide array of file types and drives types. So whether or not you're trying to recover from your internal drive or from an external USB device and whether or not you're trying to recover just a basic Excel file or something more advanced than that Disk Drill is right there with you and it has you covered.

To recover deleted Excel sheet:
1. Download and install Disk Drill.
2. Select the storage device that contained the deleted files.
3. Scan for lost data using Disk Drill’s sophisticated recovery algorithms with just a click of a button.
4. Preview the XLSX files that can be recovered. You can limit the scan results so you only see the Excel files that have been found.
5. Select the files you want to retrieve and choose a safe location to save them.
6. Click the Restore button to get your lost files back.
