After reviewing the Google Pixel 4a, with a focus on photography, I wondered if it's photos could beat my Canon 6D Mk II full-frame DSLR (or mirrorless). With new AI powered modes like Portrait mode, Night Sight, AI Zoom and Astrophotography mode I wanted to see how much AI in phone camera (Google Pixel, iPhone, Samsung) can compete with DSLR or mirrorless in 2020. I go out to take a few test shots and then go into the details to compare the results. I also give my opinion on if you should be upgrading to DSLR or mirrorless instead of using your phone camera to step-up your photography game.

Methodology: The Google Pixel 4a was on auto settings in the Google Camera app. My Canon 6D Mk II was in aperture priority mode at f/2.8 with ISO and shutter speed on auto. I applied auto adjustment in Lightroom to the Canon RAW files. The goal is to compare how they both perform in mostly automatic modes.
