Don’t Look Up is the perfect movie if you’re in the mood to laugh at the end of the world. It’s hilarious, it’s frustrating and it’s packed with some of the best of the best acting geniuses including Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill. This movie was created while the world was dealing with one end of the world catastrophe (COVID) while focusing on an entirely other one (A meteor flying towards Earth - a metaphor for climate change). DiCaprio was so passionate about taking on this role that he helped with rewrites for a scene that went through fifteen different drafts! And Jennifer Lawrence got a little too… method for this movie, and let’s just say there was pot involved. And she was under attack by her wardrobe and props. Did you hear what happened with her nose ring? Or her tooth? Or that glass that shattered? Not to mention her mind? The cast had to quarantine together at the peak of Covid pre-vaccine, sharing only one bathroom. Yikes! And did you hear about how being set free to film affected their psyche on the first day of filming? J-Law dished on that for sure. And everybody cracked right the heck up whenever Jonah Hill opened his mouth. That includes Hollywood elite, Meryl Streep. And did you hear what Streep thought Hill was calling her? Despite driving each other insane in quarantine, it seems like this cast is closer than ever because they have nothing but praise for each other. Oh, and they got to film at some pretty cool locations. Let’s just say the last time DiCaprio was on one of these it ended up under water…
