A subscriber recently asked me when he should get a commercial mower. The answer is asap. But the next question that always arises is... "How am I going to pay for it?" Two options; cash or finance. Many times it is not wise to deplete cash reserves just for the sake of "staying out of debt". But many times lawn business owners are too loose with debt, get lazy, and get in big trouble with it. This is a perspective for you to keep in mind when looking at purchasing equipment for your lawn care business. 1. Do you really need it? 2. Is it going to make you more comfortable and more productive? 3. Can you get out from underneath it if the payments become too much? Meaning, don't use consumer debt. Think your way through each purchase, but always leaning on the side of being too conservative rather than too eager to jump into debt.
