This the Genesis Croix titanium bike. It was manufactured in Taiwan and is a product of Sportline/Madison.

The user complained of very poor bottom bracket life and he said it felt like he was pedaling through treacle. The user supplied a couple of sets of BSA bottom bracket cups that had shredded threads on the non drive side.

Upon inspection, the most obvious thing was the hole on the non drive side did not appear to be round, it was distorted, the threads inside was subsequently also distorted. As titanium is much harder than the aluminum bottom bracket cups, it trashed the threads.

The user had tried to use a threading tool in an attempt to recut the threads but this had failed.

The fix was to re establish the datum between the drive side and the non drive side and recut the thread. This was hampered by having a complete bike to clamp.
