As part of my focus on innovation that's either monumentally overcomplicated or lacking any real consumer value, this video focuses on the R180 Smart Toaster.
With algorithms, touchscreen and over 60 choices of settings and various other features, this toaster manages to be ludicrously expensive and simultaneously needlessly complex.
As a perfect example of inside out thinking 'Can we? not Should we?' the R180 Toaster is a subject lesson in how to let technology override common sense.
Selling yourself for over $300 on the platform of simplifying one of the simplest to use devices in the world might seem to some a bit of a stretch, but check the video to judge for yourself!
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
